Families & Home Educators

Setup Guide
Who creates an account
  • Parent — signs up and becomes the Organisation Admin. This is the person who purchased Thadus.
  • Child — is set up as a Student under the parent's organisation.
  • There is no Educator account in a family setup — it's just parent (admin) and child (student).
What each person does
  • Parent (Admin) — portal only. Does not use the Thadus app. Logs into the web portal to view the child's progress, track certificates, and find the access code and license file. That's it.
  • Child (Student) — uses the app. Does all the setup themselves:
    • Downloads the installer and license file from the portal under Downloads & Resources
    • Installs the Thadus desktop app
    • Saves the license file onto the device — it just needs to be there
    • Opens the app and enters the access code once when prompted (found in the portal under Downloads & Resources → Access Code)
Access code & license file
  • One access code and one license file for the whole family — shared across all devices.
  • Both are found in the portal under Downloads & Resources → Access Code.
  • The license file (.lic) is an encrypted file containing your organisation's name, details, and access code. It must be downloaded and saved on each device running Thadus — the app finds it automatically at startup. No manual import needed.
  • The access code is entered once when the child first opens the app on a new device. After that, the app remembers it.
The license file encrypts the access code for security — it never gets typed or shared openly. Just save it to the device and enter the code once at first launch.
Course videos & offline viewing
  • With internet: The child can watch course videos directly in the portal under Training Centre — no download needed.
  • Without internet: Download the Video Pack for the current month from the portal under Downloads & Resources. Save it to the device — the Thadus app loads it automatically for offline viewing.
  • Video packs are released monthly and match the course curriculum (Month 1 pack for Month 1 content, etc.).
  • The parent (admin) does not need video packs — they do not use the app.
🏫 Organisation Type 2

Coding Schools & Academies

Setup Guide
Who creates an account
  • Programme leader / CEO / school owner — signs up as the Organisation Admin.
  • Each teacher or instructor — gets their own Educator account.
  • Each student — gets their own Student account.
What each person does
  • Admin (Programme Leader) — portal only. Does not use the Thadus app. Logs into the web portal to monitor all educator and student activity, track progress, view impact reports, and access the license file and access code. Oversight only.
  • Educators — set up and use the app. For each computer at the school:
    • Download the installer and license file from the portal under Downloads & Resources
    • Install the Thadus desktop app
    • Save the license file on the device — the app finds it automatically
    • Open the app and enter the access code once when prompted
  • Educators also deliver the coding curriculum, complete Thadus teacher training, and submit monthly impact reports via the portal.
  • Students — use the app. Work through coding modules and earn certificates on computers set up by their educator, or do the same setup on their own device.
Access code & license file
  • The whole school shares one access code and one license file — educators and students all use the same one.
  • Found in the portal under Downloads & Resources → Access Code.

🏛️ Organisation Type 4

Multi-Centre NGOs & Government Programmes

Setup Guide
Who creates an account
  • Programme director / national coordinator — signs up as the Organisation Admin. Oversees the entire programme across all centres but does not run a centre themselves.
  • One instructor per centre — each gets their own Educator account tied to their specific centre.
  • Each student — gets their own Student account.
What each person does
  • Admin (Programme Director) — portal only. Does not use the Thadus app. Logs into the web portal to monitor all centres — views activity, student progress, impact reports, and each centre's access code and license file. Does not run or set up any centre.
  • Educators (one per centre) — set up and use the app. For each computer at their centre:
    • Download their centre's installer and license file from the portal under Downloads & Resources
    • Install the Thadus desktop app
    • Save the license file on each device — the app finds it automatically
    • Open the app and enter their centre's access code once when prompted
  • Educators also deliver the coding programme, complete teacher training, and submit monthly impact reports for their centre via the portal. They can only see their own centre's data.
  • Students — use the app. Work through coding modules at their centre on computers set up by their educator, or do the same setup on a personal device.
Access code & license file — each centre is separate
  • Every centre has its own unique license file and access code — completely separate from every other centre.
  • Each educator downloads their centre's license file from the portal under Downloads & Resources → Access Code.
  • The license file (.lic) is an encrypted file containing that centre's organisation name, details, and access code. Save it onto each device at the centre — the app finds it automatically at startup. No import needed.
  • The access code is entered once at first launch on each device at that centre.
  • Students at that centre use the same license file and access code as their educator.
  • The admin can view all centres' access codes and license files in the portal — but does not set up any devices.
Each centre is fully self-contained — its own file, its own code, its own computers. Educators handle all setup at their location. The admin sees everything but touches nothing.
